Slumber Party

Who: Girl Scouts grades 4-5, Friends, and Families
When:
  • Saturday-Sunday, November 15-16, 2008 (Engineer it exhibit)
  • Saturday-Sunday, February 7-8, 2009 (Water Works exhibit)
Time:6:00 p.m.–8:00 a.m.
Where: Lawrence Hall of Science, UC Berkeley
Cost: $55.00 per participant (parking not included)
Capacity: 150 min/250 max. Ratio of one adult per 5 Girl Scouts.

Please note:One adult chaperone is required for every five girls.  Participants will need a sleeping bag, pillow, and overnight clothes.  Please label all of your items.

Volunteer Positions Needed: Council Representative and Level II First Aider

Come to the coolest and best slumber party in town, at the Lawrence Hall of Science!  Experience a full evening program with adventures that will include an entertaining assembly, an interactive festival, and free time to explore the exhibits.  Sleep in the halls under our special featured exhibits.  Evening snacks will be provided, and in the morning enjoy a continental breakfast.

Saturday, February 21, 2009 - Sift it, Float it, Sink it
Using magnets, water and sand, we will reveal properties of a variety of objects.

Sunday, April 19, 2009 - Snail, Lizard, and Turtle Races
Besides racing, we will also have a snail circus with snails on the high wire, muscle pull and eating frenzy.  Cheer on your favorite animal!  

Sunday, May 31, 2009 - Pond
Catch crayfish at our outdoor pond.   Observe frogs, turtles and salamanders from our Biology Lab and watch how they swim and eat.

Time:  10:00 AM-2:00 PM (Allow at least 2 hours for visit)

Please note: Cost includes admission to Lawrence Hall of Science exhibits, but does not include parking.  One adult chaperone is required for every six girls.  Please allow about two hours at the museum.  Children 3 and younger are admitted free to the museum. 

October 11 or October 12, 2008:  Earn all Requirements for Building Art and Numbers and Shapes Try-its with the Engineer It Exhibit and special events.

January 31, 2009:  Earn all requirements for Making Music and
Creative Composing Try-its with the LHS special event.  You must attend one of the assemblies at 11:00 a.m., 12:00 noon or 1:00 p.m.

April 4, 2009 will fill all of the requirements for a Healthy Habits Try-it.  You will use hands-on activities to explore how your body works and how to keep healthy.  You’ll also solve a medical mystery!

May 30, 2009 will fill all requirements for Senses Try-it with the Animal Grossology exhibit.
