Job Description:

Do you have a passion for children's media and great web design? The Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS), the public science museum of University of California, Berkeley, has an immediate opportunity for a full-time Web Designer. You will be working in an exciting group of professionals dedicated to developing innovative multimedia solutions that enhance math and science learning.
Responsibilities:

The Web Designer will primarily produce unique designs, stunning layouts, and interactive experiences for the museums' main website, department websites, and various grant-funded project websites. You will meet and consult with supervisors and clients about new and ongoing electronic communications project, and keep up with emerging technology and procedures related to web design. Your creativity, design skills, and technical knowledge will keep LHS at the forefront of electronic media technology.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Exceptionally talented, creative, proven designer
• Bachelor’s degree in graphics design, media technologies, or communications and/or equivalent experience/training
• Proficient with multimedia production software: Adobe Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Dreamweaver
• Experience in creating easy-to-navigate, informative, accurate, well-designed, and functional web sites
• Knowledge of HTML/CSS and the ability to quickly prepare website mock-ups from basic ideas
• Self-motivated, organized and plays well with others

PLUSES:
• Experience designing children's media websites
• Experience with the Drupal CMS
• A love of technology and the Web

Salary Range:

$40,764 - $58,488, annual

First Review Date:

May 29, 2008

This is a 1 year contract position with the possibility of extension depending upon funding.
