Field Trips / Exhibits

Build your field trip around one of our 2009–2010 featured exhibits:

FACING MARS
October 3, 2009 - January 3, 2010

What if you could travel to Mars? Would you be prepared for a long space journey and an inhospitable landscape?  In Facing Mars, your readiness to be a space traveler will be tested in over two dozen simulations of space travel.

RACE:  Are We So Different?
January 30 - May 2, 2010

It’s a simple truth: People are different.  This exhibit provides an opportunity to understand race from a biological, cultural, and historical perspective through engaging, hands-on science experiences; real artifacts; and videos that present people’s unique stories.

Leave the classroom and head for a science adventure! A field trip to the Lawrence Hall of Science energizes your students with new ideas and memorable learning opportunities.

  • View the Earth from space without leaving the ground in our newest exhibit Science on a Sphere.
  • Investigate the science of the very, very, very small in nanozone.
  • Explore the impact of earthquakes, erosion, wind and weather in our outdoor science park Forces That Shape the Bay.
Our exhibits are selected to enrich concepts in the California science and mathematics frameworks as well as help support national standards for inquiry-based learning.

Discounts on admission are available for groups of 12 or more.
